Central League Team Racing Eliminations - Spring 2008

 

Elimination Series - Sunday, April 13

 

Event:

The league will have its elimination series hosted by Severn Sailing Association on Sunday, April 13. Annnapolis Yacht Club will provide an additional 6 420s for a total of 18. This will allow three team races to proceed simultaneously.

 

Teams:

The Central League coaches will cede 8 teams from those active in team racing in the season.  These teams are: Annapolis, Broadneck ,Key, Severn, Severna Park, Southern, and Spalding.

 

Courses:

Wherever possible the course used for team racing will be the college N course with no bottom reach.

 

Format:

The event shall consist of a full round robin for the 8 teams (28 races).  The best four will sail for the top four slots in a championship round robin of 6 races.  The second four will sai a consolation round robin of six races to determine the fifth through eighth ranking.  Scoring will be by total wins and losses for the initial round robin and the final four series.

 

Back-up:

If the event cannot be completed on April 13, it will continue during the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday practices in the Annapolis Harbor hosted by SSA and AYC until complete.  Schools not about to sail in these continuations must forfeit their scheduled races.

 

On the water umpiring:

US Sailing Certified Judges and coaches will serve as on the water umpires.  ICSA Appendix 9 (Expedited Protest Procedure for Team Racing) shall be used if at all possible.
